SHARING AND LINKS

Add Plotter to your site

Optional. One script tag on your staging site lets reviewers on a computer skip the browser extension.

You don't need to change your site to use Plotter: on iPhone and iPad, review links open in the App Clip, and on a computer reviewers use the browser extension. The script is an optional extra for when you'd rather your clients install nothing at all: add it to your staging site and review links open the real site with Plotter's tools on top, on any computer.

Install it

  1. Open the project's Settings → Install on your site.
  2. Pick your platform: Plain HTML, Next.js, WordPress, or Webflow / Framer. Each tab says where the snippet goes.
  3. Choose Copy snippet and paste it into your staging site, on every page, before the closing body tag.
  4. Publish the staging site, then choose Check now. Plotter confirms when it has seen the script, and on which address.

Anything that lets you add a script tag to every page works the same way, including Squarespace and Wix code injection on plans that allow it.

What visitors see

Nothing. The script stays out of the way until someone arrives from one of the project's review links. Then the launcher and toolbar appear for that person only, with the same tools as the extension: drawing, pins, comments, copy changes, styles, replacement images and Preview.

The tools only start on addresses the project covers. If the install check sees the script on another address, it flags it so you can add that address to the project or ignore it.

Staging or live?

We recommend staging. The script does nothing for ordinary visitors, but keeping it off your live site means your client's customers never download it. If you review a live site, it's safe to install there too.

Content Security Policy

If the site sends a Content Security Policy, add the two lines shown under Using a Content Security Policy? in the same panel: Plotter's script address to script-src, and the Plotter app to frame-src. Nothing else is needed. Sites that only allow their own images still show replacement images: Plotter draws them itself.

Site keys

The snippet carries the project's site key. If it ends up somewhere it shouldn't, choose Rotate key in the same panel. The old key keeps working for 7 days, so deploy the new snippet before then.

Without the script

Reviewers on a computer can still use the Plotter extension, and anyone can mark up images you share. The Invite reviewers dialog tells you which applies: whether the script has been seen on the site, and what your reviewer will need.
